NASDAQ OMX Global Index Group (GIG) is engaged in the design, development, calculation, dissemination, licensing and marketing of NASDAQ OMX indexes. GIG specializes in the design and development of indexes focusing on NASDAQ OMX’s brand themes of innovation, technology, growth, and globalization. GIG also provides custom index services and design solutions as a third-party provider to selected financial organizations.

NASDAQ OMX calculates and disseminates indexes real-time and end-of-day in price return and total return variations. NASDAQ OMX also calculates and disseminates across different currencies.

Index Licensing and Marketing Support

NASDAQ OMX licenses its indexes to financial institutions, asset managers and institutional investors worldwide to create, issue, sponsor and/or distribute a variety of financial instruments.

NASDAQ OMX is committed to widespread distribution of NASDAQ OMX real-time index data to the public via the Internet and other electronic media throughout the world. As part of this effort, NASDAQ OMX provides investment professionals real-time, daily and historical information about NASDAQ OMX indexes and corresponding products listed on NASDAQ OMX exchanges.

Our index data products enable investors and traders to identify and value securities within NASDAQ OMX indexes and to easily track portfolio investments based on NASDAQ OMX indexes. Investors can therefore gauge the market’s performance and make educated buy and sell decisions — whether they are trading index-based funds or pursuing more advanced investment strategies related to the trading of securities underlying in an index.

In addition, to help investors and traders track ETF performance, NASDAQ OMX calculates and disseminates intra-day portfolio values for NASDAQ-listed ETFs to the market data community

NASDAQ OMX Global Index Watch – Provides essential historical index data for all NASDAQ OMX indexes via an easy-to-use web interface.

To promote widespread distribution of the data, NASDAQ OMX has combined its indexes and ETF valuation data into a single data entitlement for market data distributors.

NASDAQ OMX Global Index Services – Provides real-time index values for NASDAQ OMX indexes and listed EFTs real-time throughout the trading day. Use this feed to develop portfolio screens and other trading tools for traders and investors. It also tracks the real-time tick for NASDAQ OMX index and derivative products, including internalized trades reported to NASDAQ OMX exchanges in Europe.

To facilitate the processing of the cross-market data, the NASDAQ OMX Global Index Data Service will standardize the message formats for index and ETF values. The consolidated data stream will include the following data elements:
